The goal in the 3D model was to evoke a certain dramatic mood through the use of a strong key light. 28 lights was used to lit. 5 spot lights for the light sauce, 9 area lights for bounce light in the scene; 14 area lights for the fill lights. Most area lights are used very soft depth map shadow so it gets really nice soft edge.
